Curriculum

The Maryland School for the Blind staffs highly qualified teachers, most of whom hold certifications in multiple areas of specialization. MSB utilizes different curriculum options that are intended for all students both academically, as well as, to help in the development of functional life skills.
MSB uses the State Curriculum (SC) which aligns Maryland Content Standards and the Maryland Assessment Program and offers three curriculums.
The Core Curriculum generally consists of knowledge and skills related to academic subjects.
The Expanded Core Curriculum consists of compensatory and functional skills such as using learning experiences as concept development, spatial understanding, study and organizational skills, speaking and listening skills, and adaptations necessary for accessing all areas of the existing core curriculum.
