Athletics & Therapeutic Recreation

MSB has the sporting and recreational edge!

Therapeutic Recreation

Therapeutic recreation activities include: spring musical and play, Art Club, Magic Club, Builders/Key Club, Garden Club, Magical Experiences Arts Company, Chess Club, Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts, pet therapy, ski trips, nature outings, dances, social skills groups, arts and crafts, therapeutic horseback riding, rock-climbing, hiking, off-campus field trips, beeping Easter egg hunt and more.

Many of these activities are possible with the help of our dedicated volunteers. With the recent addition of "The Jen C. Russo Arts Center," students now have a completely accessible stage on which to perform and an auditorium to enjoy performances by guests. The state-of-the-art Center houses a professional stage and music classrooms to be used by all students.

The Therapeutic Recreation program also affords students the opportunity to interact with non-disabled peers. Students travel off-campus to participate in scouts, art classes, dance, bowling league, skating, local Key clubs and YMCA teen groups. This experience and interaction is invaluable to MSB students.

Athletics

At MSB, we want our students to have a positive self-image, high self-esteem and possess skills that will help them lead an enjoyable, fulfilling life. We also want to promote fitness, wellness and an active lifestyle among students. This is achieved through a large variety of physical education activities and therapeutic recreation offered to all students. Athletics include swimming, track, cheerleading, goalball and wrestling. During the school year, athletic teams and cheerleaders travel to other states to compete against their peers. Each year, MSB holds its very own "Winter Games" where students participate in Olympic-style games in the school’s gymnasium.  Athletics at MSB are voluntary, extra-curricular activities for our students.
